I enjoy writing descants which, when sung, unfold as small surprises: sometimes grandiose and majestic, sometimes subtler and noble. I think descants could also accompany other (closing) verses than the glorious finales we are used to hear, as more intimate settings can be surprisingly powerful.
Ik hou ervan descants (bovenstemmen) te schrijven die verrassen als ze worden gezongen: soms groots en majestueus, soms subtieler. Hoewel descants vaak gezongen worden bij glorieuze (slot)verzen, kan het volgens mij heel krachtig zijn om juist ook bij intiemere teksten een (zachtere) bovenstem te zingen.
